The Bear Inn

Discover The Bear Inn, Oxford's oldest pub, steeped in history since 1242. Nestled in the heart of the city, this tavern is a must-see.

The Bear Inn (or “The Bear” for short) is one of Oxford’s oldest pubs. People have been visiting and drinking at The Bear since 1242, although the current building was built around the 17th century.

As you might expect from a traditional Oxford pub, The Bear has low ceilings, worn wooden floors, and tiny rooms topped by beamed ceilings.

The Bear offers a great range of real ales, including the famous London Pride and HSB (Horndean Special Bitter), a fruity rich ale perfect for cold days.
