Oxford's Victors Rooftop Bar

The Best Oxford Rooftop Bars You Should Definitely Visit in 2024

Even though Oxford is not a big metropolis, it has plenty of excellent rooftop bars and places with a view.
Oxford's Victors Rooftop Bar

Even though Oxford isn’t a sprawling metropolis like London or New York, it still boasts an impressive selection of rooftop bars and venues that offer stunning views of the city’s historic skyline. From charming terraces overlooking iconic spires to trendy spots where you can sip cocktails under the open sky, Oxford has plenty to offer for those who love a great view with their drink.

In this guide, I’m excited to share my top picks for the best rooftop experiences in Oxford that you simply can’t miss in 2024. But here’s the twist: while many of these venues are indeed perched high above the city, offering breathtaking panoramas, I’ve also included a few Oxfordian gems that, while not technically on a roof, still provide an exceptional vantage point or atmosphere that rivals any rooftop setting.

Are There Any Good Rooftop Bars in Oxford?

If you’re new to the city, you might be wondering if there even are any rooftop bars in Oxford – and whether any of them are actually good. The answer is quite simple: YES. There are actually tons of excellent options. Oxford has, after all, some of the most stunning views in the UK. Now comes the subsequent question: How do you pick a good rooftop bar if you’re visiting the city, just moved here, or have been an Oxfordian for a while now?

I created the following list of best Oxford rooftop bars based on three things. The first is the views, naturally. Oxford is my favourite city in the world, and there’s no better way to enjoy its architecture than from some height. Secondly, I reviewed the different drinks offered by the bars. You’ll probably want a good selection of cocktails, wines, beers, etc. Lastly, the atmosphere! This is an essential part of a rooftop bar experience, isn’t it? So, without further ado, here are the finalists for my top Oxford rooftop bars list!

Why Visit the Alchemist Rooftop Bar?

The Alchemist defines itself as a place where “inquisitive minds find exquisite cocktails”, and to be honest — I think this is true. This cocktail bar and restaurant has a variety of delicious drinks and dishes, all from the rooftop of the Westgate shopping mall. This bar’s design is contemporary and offers cocktails carefully designed to impress. There is both an outdoor roof terrace with a view and an indoor space where you can stay warm during the colder months. Without a doubt, this is a great choice if you’re looking for a stylish and modern rooftop bar in Oxford. Oh, and I forgot: The drinks change colours and are served in test tubes (because, The Alchemist!).
